Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island in Maine

Echo Lake & Beach

Echo Lake is a gorgeous little lake located on the western side of Mount Desert Island just south of Somesville near Route 102.

Echo Lake Beach is on the southern shore within Acadia National Park and has become the most popular fresh water swimming place on the island. From Memorial day through Labor day, the beach is staffed by a lifeguard.

The Beech Mountain Hiking Trails are close by with one leading to an overlook point on the cliffs above. If you do not mind the hike, there are some beautiful views from this vantage point. (Always use caution!)

The Island Explorer Shuttle Bus has a pickup and drop-off point at the beach parking area.
