The Cat Ferry

The Cat” ferry service has revolutionized ferry service in North America by providing speeds of up to 55 miles per hour (90km/hr) across the Bay of Fundy between Bar Harbor, Maine and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. A traditional ferry would take about 6 hours to travel the same distance whereas “The Cat” is able to travel the same distance in only 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Most amentities that one would expect to be available on a cruise ship are available here as well. A Cafe is open all day for meals. There is a bar and a duty free gift shop with a wide selection of duty free items at great prices. Over 71 slot machines await the ready gamblers. A movie is shown in the lounge on large screen to entertain the children.

The Cat ferry service operates from May 16 through October 15. As of the 2006 season, it has added Portland, Maine to its ports of call. Be sure to review the daily schedules at their official web site:
