Asticou Azalea Garden
The Asticou Azalea Garden in Northeast Harbor, Maine, is not actually part of Acadia National Park but is an important place to consider visiting while in the area. Originally built in 1956 - 1957 and largely due to the vision and passion of Charles Savage, it has gone through several major revisions since.
The current garden design includes several interwoven pathways allowing visitors to discover new visual delights and aromas. Little benches and stone seats are strategically placed throughout so that you may sit and reflect.
Asticou Azalea Garden is located next to Route 3 on the north side of the harbor inlet of Northeast Harbor, Maine. There is a small parking area on the northwest side with a path that leads into the garden.
The garden is owned and maintained by The Island Foundation and a committee of volunteers. Contributions to aid in its support are welcomed. Those wishing to make a tax deductible donation should make the gift out to:
