Time and Tide Cottage

Spend your vacation on the shore of the Union River Bay. Stroll along the shoreline searching for shells and sea glass, or just relax and enjoy the sun going down behind Blue Hill Mountain. Located in Trenton, Maine, Time and Tide Cottage is just five miles from the entrance to Mount Desert Island and fifteen miles from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Also, located nearby in Winter Harbor is the Schoodic Peninsula.

Our new shorefront cottage, completed in the fall of 2009, has hardwood flooring throughout and two bedrooms that can sleep four people. The bedrooms are on the second floor; one with a king bed and the other with a queen. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom. The master bathroom has a walk-in tile shower and a bathtub with Jacuzzi. Sliding glass doors in the master bedroom lead to a balcony which is equipped with an outside shower overlooking the ocean. The second bedroom also has a northwest ocean view.
 
 

Floor to ceiling doors/windows along the wall in the living/dining room provide excellent views up and down the bay. A wall of windows in the kitchen also face west and capture the beautiful sunsets at the end of the day. A den/office is through a set of French doors off the living room and has a built-in desk and a piano. Just a few short steps from the cottage lies the ocean. Explore the shoreline, go swimming, or just sit and listen to the sounds of the ocean as the seagulls, eagles, and hawks fly overhead.
 

 
 

The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances, pantry, a soapstone farm sink, cherry countertops, and a gas grill is on the patio by the ocean. There is a small convenience store a half mile from the cottage, a local grocery store within 3 miles, and two larger grocery stores in Ellsworth, just eight miles away. Plenty of fresh seafood is available from nearby lobster pounds and restaurants. We will provide a lobster pot so people can cook lobsters, clams, and mussels on the shore over an open fire pit. The free Island Explorer bus service stops at the local grocery store (Trenton Marketplace) and can take you and your bicycle to many points on Mount Desert Island.
