You will love staying in this timberframed cottage on the quiet side
of Mount Desert Island in West Tremont, Maine (see map).
Everything on the island is an easy drive away but you have a quiet
place to return to for comfort and relaxation. Prepare a barbecue
to eat on the picnic table in front of the cottage surrounded by
the many evergreens and the sounds and smells of the ocean nearby.
The screened in porch is the perfect place for early morning coffee
or a romantic dinner (bug free!)

Feel free to pick the wild Maine blueberries outside your door (in
season). No spray or commercial fertilizers are used so you truly
have “wild” Maine blueberries!
SeaWhisper Cottage will comfortably sleep two adults and up to two
children. (Cots are available for the wee ones.) The photo to the right
shows the queen bed with the bathroom in the background. The natural
wood finish adds a warmth to the interior. |
Mount Desert Island and Acadia
National Park have many spectacular places. Close to the cottage
are the classic Maine fishing villages of Bernard and Bass
Harbor (part of Tremont). You will also recognize the Bass
Harbor Head Lighthouse, one of the most photographed lighthouses
in North America. Seawall is
a beautiful area as well with its natural seawall of granite and rocks
of all sizes. There are many places where you can sit and enjoy the
ocean. Some days the surf is active as in the photo to the left. This
is the rugged coast of Maine!

Across the road from our property is a strip of woods, then a salt
water estuary... then, the ocean. We can hear the sound of breaking
surf at Mitchell Cove. We're a 2 minute drive or a 15 minute walk
from Back Beach on Lopus Point Road in Bernard, a 5 minute drive
to the Seal
Cove landing/picnic area. Our cabin is tucked privately into
the woods with the ledges, moss, deer and rabbits. Bar
Harbor and Northeast
Harbor are only 20 minutes away. There are ferries that go
to the outer islands for hiking or biking trips and whale watches!

A Rental Week
is Saturday to Saturday.
2010 Season Rates:
May: $500/week
June, July, Aug., Sept.: $600/week

Check in is anytime after 3:00 p.m.• Check out by 10:00 a.m.
on day of departure
Well mannered/trained dogs are welcome for an extra $50.00 cleaning fee (total, not per dog)
A deposit of half the rent payable by check or money order is required to confirm a reservation.
The balance with the lodgings tax and security deposit is due two weeks prior to arrival.
Deposits can only be refunded if we are able to re-rent the cottage and a fee of $25 will be kept in any case to defray processing and mailing expenses. We also require a security deposit of $200 which will be returned after your departure and following cleaning and inspection of the cottage.
Add 7% Maine lodging tax (may change to 8.5% after June 2010 referendum)
