Bayside House

Oceanside Vacation Rental near Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park

Bayside House Oceanside Vacation Rental
The Bayside House is an oceanside vacation rental situated in a quiet wooded setting overlooking Union River Bay with a lovely view of Blue Hill Mountain in the distance. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are only about 20 minutes away.

Built in 2001, the house has a beautiful knotty pine interior with lots of windows, creating a light, airy feeling. Cozy furnishings with modest mix of antiques are throughout with a large collection of books for readers to enjoy. The second-story library is a cozy spot for quiet time with two writing desks and plenty of light from the clearstory windows. There is also a well stocked video and CD library and a wide variety of games.

View of kitchen A roomy kitchen is well supplied with the necessities and plenty of work space for the cooks in your group. Besides the regular appliances, it has a toaster-oven, blender, coffee maker and dishwasher. There's also a barbeque right outside on the deck. During the day, there is ample natural light coming in through the windows. At night when the lights are low or off, you will be able to see the stars in the sky.

A large deck on the ground level and a balcony off the second-story bedroom offer places to sit and enjoy the wildlife - songbirds, ducks, loons, gulls, eagles, on occasion some wild turkeys, squirrels, seals, and osprey. The beach in front of the house has pebbles on one portion and rocks on the rest with lots of chances for beach combing and exploring. (See photo of water view.)

View of one of the bedroomsThe three bedrooms will comfortably sleep six. Two bedrooms have queen size beds - one bedroom has a twin and a trundle. For larger parties there is a full-size futon couch in the den that will sleep two more for an additional fee.

You will appreciate having the two bathrooms and it will be helpful with larger groups. Each has it's own hot water supply and the larger bathroom has a jacuzzi.

There is a washer and dryer in the laundry area. The furnace will take the chill off morning or evening if necessary.

Interior stairwayMany shops, galleries, and restaurants are about twenty minutes away in Bar Harbor. It also offers boat trips, whale watching, and tours. There are several other towns and villages on Mount Desert Island you will want to visit as well such as Somesville, Northeast Harbor, Seal Harbor, and Southwest Harbor. Only 10 minutes away on the mainland is Ellsworth - the closest commercial center with a variety of shops, restaurants, and services.

Acadia National Park has many sights you will want to see including Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, Otter Cliff, Jordan Pond, Cadillac Mountain, etc. It has great hiking trails and the famous carriage roads throughout the park.

Schoodic Peninsula, about 45 minutes away, is another special area you may want to visit and is the only portion of Acadia National Park located on the mainland. It is less developed with a real Downeastern feel. Many people love it for this reason.
